20KW of emergency air conditioning for Welsh NHS Trust

The Welsh NHS Trust covers a large geographical area of renowned natural beauty.

The Welsh NHS Trust contacted KwikCOOL air conditioning hire after seeing our information on the internet. They had a requirement for approximately 20Kw of cooling for their RENAL UNIT.

The unit initially opened in 1985 as the first PFI dialysis centre in the UK. The current unit was opened in 1998 as a purpose build unit on the ground of the Trusts main hospital. The stunning views from the panoramic windows of the Renal unit are those of the Snowdonia Mountains.

The unit consists of 16 Haemodialysis stations, which also provide Haemodiafiltration and Plasmaphoresis and a fully developed peritonealdialysis programme with CAPD and APD facilities and provides vital services that have to be maintained.

After initial discussions with the Trust, KwikCOOL air conditioning hire confirmed that two KwikCOOL 35 ducted air conditioning units would be the best solution for the needs of the Renal unit. A quotation was supplied the same day and an order was gained by Katie Barnett. Delivery was requested and arranged, the KwikCOOL 35 air conditioning units were despatched the next day.

A specialist KwikCOOL engineer demonstrated the operation of the units on site. The two KwikCOOL 10.23kw units operate from a 13 amp socket, the two aircon hire units are providing cooling for the whole of the unit while the NHS Trust undertakes repairs undertaken on the installed system.

KwikCOOL provide a true 24 hour call out for the NHS trust due to the nature of this hire (keeping patients cool while waiting for appointments and treatment).

KwikCOOL provided a cost effective solution to the NHS Trust, as Best Value is core to KwikCOOL air conditioning hire services.
Problem solved.

Estate Agents office

May this year saw several days of temperature of 26 deg C, a small Estate agents office with five members of staff was experiencing very uncomfortable temperatures, with the threat of a sweltering summer this year they could no longer cope.

The office was in the high street, the shop featured large areas of south facing glass. They called KwikCOOL and, within one hour, had two KwikCOOL 15 split portable air conditioning units installed.

Problem solved.  They have now placed order for their three other offices.

Plant Hire Companies IT failure

The servers and computers that run their depot network failed during recent high temperatures. The failure caused thousands of pounds of damage and lost business as they were unable to process hire contracts. To ensure reliable operation in the future their IT specialists advised them to install air conditioning to ensure that temperatures stay within acceptable limits.

They were advised overheating by even a few degrees can blow a server chip. It doesn’t take a great surge of heat to damage server and network equipment - a couple of degrees too high and you could be facing considerable further downtime. They contacted KwikCOOL, a site survey was undertaken by a specialist sales engineer, he sized the cooling application taking into account the heat load generated by the servers and people entering and exiting the room, three KwikCOOL 25 Duct units were recommended to expel heat in the false ceiling.

They choose to hire as their requirement was limited to 20 weeks of the year and KwikCOOL agreed to leave the equipment on site free of charge so they had the equipment ready for the following summer. The plant Hire company now offer KwikCOOL hire units (via a cross hire deal) to their client now they have 1st hand experience of the benefits.
Problem solved.

Petro Chemical Plant

KwikCOOL were contacted in an emergency, the process company were experiencing a motor failure due to it location in close proximity to a steam mains, and the motor was showing the early sings of failure due to excessive heat, they required spot cooling and fast.

They had called other companies and were frustrated with call centres and waiting for a real sales engineer to phone them back, whilst they were waiting for as call back a junior engineer scoured the internet and found KwikCOOL, one call later KwikCOOL dispatched an engineer to access the requirement.

The next day two KwikCOOL 25 Split units were delivered and installed and they had still not received a phone call back from the other hire companies they had phoned. The KwikCOOL solution provided them with breathing space to enable a replacement motor suitable for the higher temperatures to be sourced and installed,

Problem Solved.

School classroom overheating

Teachers at a local school contacted the Local area authority because their classrooms had become 'greenhouses' in summer heat waves of last summer, they were demanding the right to walk out of classrooms if the temperature exceeds 27 degrees Celsius.

"Schools are not suited to the warmer summers we have been enjoying," said NUT general secretary Steve Sinnott. "Schools do not have air-conditioning. Those built more recently have a great deal of glass which can push the temperature up quite considerably."

The problem is made worse by the fact that school windows are secured to only open a few centimetres for safety reasons.

The local LEA called KwikCOOL as they were cheaper than the OCG supplier, contingency plans have now been put in place in preparation for the expected summer heat wave.
Problem solved, contingency plan in place.

KwikCOOL's team of dedicated engineers and vehicles can deliver and install these units to any of the LEA schools with the shortest possible delay.

Supermarket hire Chiller from KwikCOOL.

When a leading supermarket wanted help to maintain their cooling during the last summers heatwave, as there existing AHU heating system was unable to keep up with the cooling demand at one of its stores. They contacted Watkins Hire for an emergency hire solution that included a 80kW KwikCOOL chiller with an internal warm air-handling unit.

Watkins Hire received and call from the facility management company who maintain the store, for an emergency heating solution to supplement the stores heating system as the existing Air Handling system as unable to meet the increased demands due to the ambient temperatures of minus 8-deg C.

Watkins Hire interpreted the site requirements, equipment required for the project included a 80kw mobile packaged chiller, two 50kw  Air Handling Units. The KwikCOOL chiller was selected from one of Watkins Hire extensive fleet of 1000 mobile temperature control plants.

The hire plant was delivered within hours of the initial call, with Watkins Hire own transport and lifted onto site with Watkins Hire 12 tonne HIAB crane.

From the time of delivery to site and Watkins Hire Engineers commissioning and handing over the plant to the store was completed within 14 hours.
